Our Interview With Vince Nguyen
Seminarian Daniel Swartz recently sat down with Vince Nguyen, third year seminarian at the Pontifical College Josephinum, to interview him about his time at the PCJ. Vince will have his Diaconate Ordination next Friday, May 3rd at 7pm at St. Joseph’s Cathedral.
How have you changed since you’ve entered the Seminary?
My life has changed in many different ways. It has changed into a life more conformed to Christ in faith, hope and love.
What has been the highlight of your time here at the PCJ?
The highlight of my time here at the Josephinum has been the fraternity I have had with my fellow classmates; throughout my time, my classmates have assisted in my discernment in so many different ways and I thank God for having them in my life. Also, going on a trip to Rome with my classmates (especially serving for the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI) was a highlight!
How do you feel you can make the greatest impact as a priest?
I think I can make the greatest impact as a priest by bringing Christ to the people of God here in Columbus. By being a witness to Christ and being there for the people of God in any situation, I hope to make some impact in their lives.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about entering the priesthood
My advice is to find a priest that can help you through your faith journey whether or not God is calling you to the priesthood. Once you find a priest that can do that, have a solid prayer life and call the Vocations Director so he can give you other opportunities to figure out what God is calling you to do in this world!
What do you feel is the biggest challenge facing the church today?
The biggest challenge facing the Church is communicating the faith to the faithful and even to those who are not Catholic. Often, our faith is misunderstood and misconstrued. If we can learn and proclaim the Gospel truth, I think we can bring more people to Christ!
